The correct application of downlights
Proper application of downlights is critical to achieving the desired lighting in a space. Here are some tips to use downlights properly:
Placement: the placement of downlights is important to achieve even and balanced lighting in a room. Generally, downlights are placed along the ceiling at regular intervals to ensure even light distribution. The exact placement depends on various factors, such as the size of the room, the ceiling height and the desired light intensity. It is advisable to carefully plan the placement of downlights to avoid hotspots or dark areas.
Angle of light: When selecting downlights, you should consider the angle of light. This determines how wide or narrow the beam of light is and how large an area it illuminates the room. A smaller light angle creates a focused beam of light and is good for accent lighting specific areas or objects. A larger light angle produces a wider beam of light and is suitable for general room lighting.
Light color: Choosing the right light color for downlights affects the atmosphere and mood in the room. Warm white light with a color temperature of about 2700K or 3000K creates a cozy and relaxing atmosphere, while cooler light with a higher color temperature of 4000K creates a modern and refreshing effect. When choosing a light color, consider the intended use of the room and the desired atmosphere.
Dimmability: If you want a flexible lighting solution, make sure the downlights you choose are dimmable. With a dimming function, you can adjust the light intensity and create different moods in the room. Make sure the downlights you choose can be used with a compatible dimmer switch and check the maximum dimming power of the fixtures.
Integration with other lighting elements: Downlights should ideally harmonize with other lighting elements in the room. Consider other light sources such as wall sconces, table lamps or floor lamps to create a holistic and versatile lighting experience. A combination of different light sources can improve the visual aesthetics of the room and create a pleasant atmosphere.
By following these tips, you can effectively use downlights and create appropriate lighting in your rooms. Remember that the design and placement of downlights should be adjusted according to the specific requirements and characteristics of the space to achieve the best possible lighting solution.

A special advantage of NUMINOS® spotlights is that they have an integrated LED driver. This means that they can be connected directly to the 230V mains voltage and are dimmable with phase dimming and DALI.
Selectable lenses with half spread angles of 24°, 36° or 60° are available for individual lighting design. This makes it possible to adjust the light cone and achieve the desired lighting effect.

The correct application of Spotlights
The proper application of spotlights is critical to targeting specific areas or objects and achieving an appealing lighting design. Here are some tips for using spotlights correctly:
Objective: clearly define the area or object you want to highlight with the spotlights. This could be a specific wall, painting, sculpture or architectural element, for example. By defining the target of your lighting, you can plan the placement and orientation of the spotlights accordingly.
Placement: Position the spotlights so that the illuminated object or area is the focal point. Experiment with different positions to achieve the desired effect. Also take into account the distance between the spotlights and the object or area to ensure uniform illumination.
Light angle and alignment: Select the appropriate light angle for the spotlights to achieve the desired lighting effect. A narrower light angle creates a concentrated and focused beam of light that is ideal for highlighting a specific object or small area. A wider light angle, on the other hand, allows for more extensive illumination and is suitable for lighting larger areas or walls.
Light Color: Choosing the right light color is also important for spotlights to create the desired atmosphere and mood. Consider the intended use of the room and the desired lighting mood. Warm white light (around 2700K or 3000K) creates a cozy and relaxing atmosphere, while cooler light (around 4000K) creates a modern and refreshing effect.
Dimmability: if desired, choose dimmable spotlights to adjust the flexibility of lighting. With a dimming function, you can adjust the light intensity as needed and create different moods in the room. Verify that the spotlights you select can be used with a compatible dimmer switch and make sure the maximum dimming power of the fixtures meets your needs.
Integration with other lighting elements: Cleverly combine spotlights with other lighting elements in the room, such as wall sconces or indirect lighting, to create versatile and harmonious lighting. Combining different light sources can improve the visual aesthetics of the room and create a pleasant atmosphere.
By considering these tips, you can effectively use spotlights to highlight targeted areas or objects. Remember that the exact placement and orientation of spotlights depends on the specific requirements and characteristics of the room to achieve the desired lighting solution.
